On the evening of September 12, 2024, Ensō London had the pleasure of hosting the launch of COLLECTION VI, the Autumn Winter 2024/25 collection by the interdisciplinary brand Wright + Doyle. Known for their strong visual relationship between workwear, objects, landscape, and garden, this collection brought together fashion, nature, and art in a captivating installation.Drawing inspiration from French artist Lucien Pelen, whose self-portraits explore the merging of human and nature, Wright + Doyle’s latest collection embodies a sense of balance and harmony between the body and the environment. Pelen’s influence can be seen in the collection’s natural materials and intricate designs, as well as in the exhibition space itself, which featured installation works created from organic elements to echo the collection’s themes. The collection prominently features fine tailoring, crafted from soft lambswool and Hopsack wool developed by master weaver Daniel at his restored Welsh mill. Embracing the elements, the pieces feel both rugged and refined, embodying the raw beauty of nature in every stitch. The collection’s rich color palette—burnt orange, cacao, inky blue, and ebony—was inspired by the textile sculptures of Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz. These tones were recreated in specially commissioned woven fabrics, offering a fresh take on natural hues.
Set against the stark beauty of the Isle of Portland, the lookbook and campaign for COLLECTION VI echoed the island’s rugged landscape, reminiscent of the Aran Islands’ arid terrain. The setting added another layer to the collection’s exploration of the interaction between nature and the human form.
The launch event saw guests enjoying the immersive experience as they explored the pieces from the AW 24/25 collection, along with the installation works created from natural materials. The opening night brought together fashion enthusiasts, artists, and nature lovers alike, highlighting the deep connections that Wright + Doyle continues to foster between fashion and the natural world.
The exhibition, which runs until September 27, 2024, from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm, at Ensō London, offers visitors the opportunity to view the collection up close and appreciate the intricate craftsmanship and artistic inspirations behind each piece.
Ensō London is proud to have collaborated with Wright + Doyle on this unique exhibition, and we look forward to future creative partnerships that continue to celebrate the intersection of art, fashion, and nature.
About WRIGHT + DOYLE Wright + Doyle is an interdisciplinary brand drawing on principles of a strong visual relationship between workwear, objects, landscape and garden. Drawn from an 18 year career in luxury fashion as a designer and pattern cutter, cut and fabrication are at the root of Wright and Doyle's design process. After moving from London to the depths of Dorset, where we converted a cattle shed into a home for us and our two boys. A small holding that with time is becoming our studio and space to propagate and bring on Matt's plants as well as a small flock of sheep, chickens and land that over the years is providing a lot of what we require to eat and live a balanced life. We work with fellow artists and makers that align with and enrich our practice, and are proud to have long established relationships with selected Italian, Portuguese and Welsh mills, which curate highly considered fabrics for each collection.
